till death do us apart.............

“Marriage” used to make me think until realized some truths.

I have seen various kinds of marriages

1: They are compatible to each other, love each other and their married life is wonderful.
(May be number of this kind of marriages is very less)

2: Two persons are not compatible to each other but still they love each other and their marriage is safe. This is nice. This kind of marriages can survive even if the love is one sided, but the person might need lots of patience.

3: They are not compatible, they don’t trust or love each other (wonder can one exist with out the other!) but still live together for the sake of society. This is unbearable.

4. They are not compatible, they don’t have any feelings for each other and they go for divorce. This is worst.

I can give names to all the above people but some how decided against it. I might be wrong in analyzing them. (I seriously wish I were wrong). But life takes the ultimate decision in case of our relationships. If they are to be together they will be no matter what. The wrong decisions or my ignorance has made me realize these things.

Kahlil Gibran gives one of best definitions of marriage, here it goes

You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.

You shall be together when white wings of death scatter your days.

Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.

But let there be spaces in your togetherness,

And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another but make not a bond of love:

Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.

Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.

Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,

Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.

For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.

And stand together, yet not too near together:

For the pillars of the temple stand apart,

And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

My realizations made me write the following lines.

“Maine poocha zindagi kyaa hain
Peeche se ek awaaz boli,
Pehle se likha naatak hain!
Maine poocha tum koun ho?
Who boli yeh sawaal bhi likha hain!”

All these thought passed through the mind when some one repeated the same thoughts, which I had some time back. (“I believe in understanding the person before getting married”)
